The Difference Of Prisoners And Heroes

When some of us were growing up there was a TV program called, Hogan's Heroes - a light-hearted situation comedy that took place in a Nazi war camp. You might think it was an odd setting for a comedy. It was a hard premise to swallow if you were Jewish, and even if you were not. Though the title spoke of heroes, the problem was that the heroes were all captives. They were prisoners able to plan escapes, escape for a while, but they could never leave for good. That would end the show. Many of our walks are like Hogan's Heroes. The Bible calls you to be more than a conqueror - a great hero. Yet you can be a captive in the enemy's prison camp. You're bound by the past, old habits, sins, discouragements and fears. Your talk about breaking out and overcoming, you dream about victory, and you hope for freedom. But you never actually break out. But in God, you have the power. Stop dreaming about freedom and victory in God and live it - break out of the prison camp! rn
