The Eastern belief that reincarnation comes from the belief in karma. According to these doctrines, you have to work for salvation in this life, the next life, and thousands of lives after that. It's virtually endless. According to this belief, every form of life is part of this wheel of karma. But most living things on earth are bacteria. So what if you get reincarnated and you end up being athlete's foot bacteria. Your whole purpose is to mess up somebody's foot. Depending on how well you do with karma, you get promoted or demoted. It's a no-win situation. What's the best you can do as a bacteria? End up in a yogurt cup in a refrigerator? Here's the problem, the Scriptures declare that we have one life. It only comes once in an eternity. It's not a circle, it's a straight line to eternity. You'll never walk or pass through this way again. So whatever good you can do, do it now and don't put it off. Start living today because you walk through this life only once. Then comes eternity . . . and not life at the bottom of a yogurt cup.
