The Absence of Joseph

Joseph was the beloved son of Jacob and yet was exiled from his family. They thought he was dead, and Jacob's house was desolate and in mourning. Joseph is a shadow of Messiah. And just as Joseph was separated from his family, so Messiah is now separated from His family, the Jewish people. And just as the house of Jacob was empty without Joseph, so Israel has been spiritually empty without Messiah. But the story doesn't end until his brothers finally recognize that he is their brother and redeemer. And so, the age cannot end until the Jewish people recognize that He is their Messiah, their brother. So the Bible says, "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem." If you love Messiah, you need to love His people too. Pray for their redemption. And know that if He's not the center of your life, everything else is going to be an empty house. Make Him the center of everything you do today. And pray for His own family, for the day that the whole house of Israel will at last receive Messiah, the son of Joseph.
