The Very First Action of The American Government

As the Fourth of July approaches, here's a question: What was the first act of the American government? President Washington, Vice President, the Senators and Representatives went to a small church where for two hours they worshiped God, prayed, and committed the new nation into His hands. During Congress' first official joint session, which also included prayer, President Washington said, "It would be peculiarly improper to omit in this first official act, my fervent supplications to that Almighty Being who rules over the universe." If the nation followed the ways of God, it would be blessed; if it departed, blessings would be withdrawn. So as you pray for America rto come back to its foundation, remember it's not just about America, but us as well. Have you drifted away? Then get back to your foundation, because everything else in your life will only be as good and as strong as the foundation on which it rests. So return to God ...your first love.
