The Barefoot Entrance

Every year, on Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the year, the High Priest would begin his entrance into the Holy of Holies. But the first thing he had to do was strip himself of his priestly garments and put on a simple white linen covering. Only then, and barefoot, could he begin to approach God. You are also called to be a priest and enter His presence. If you really want to enter the presence of the Lord, you have to strip yourself of your pride, your concerns, your business, your preoccupations, your religiousness, even your ministry and ministry concerns. You see, the High Priest had to even remove his garments of ministry in order to approach God. So even if you are the head of a great ministry, you still have to approach God without it, stripped, as a little child. . For all ministry begins in the Holy Place, with no ministry, just God and you, and the blood of the sacrifice. From that presence, that love, that joy of salvation comes everything else. So enter the Holy of Holies today, but leave your High Priestly garments in the changing room.
