The Jordan Descender

In Matthew 16, Messiah asked, "Who do you say I am?" "The Son of the Living God," Peter answered. In other words you have come from God, you proceeded from the living God. That's a radical statement, but there is also something in it - where this was said. This was said in Caesarea Philippi which is called Vanyas. The word "Jordan," is called the Yarden in Hebrew, which means to descend, it means the descender, it comes down, it goes down the mountain and finally into the Dead Sea. What a picture because that's an incredible picture of Messiah. He is the descender. He is the one who came from heaven and poured Himself out and descended to death, to humiliation, to all these things because of you. Who is Messiah? He is the one who has come down. He will come to you no matter what you are stuck in, no matter how deep the pit, He will come. He is the Son of the Living God who comes down into your life from the heights to the deepest pit of your heart.
