Orthodox Jews are actually Pentecostal. Pentecost is a Jewish holiday given through Moses. God told the Israelites to count seven weeks after Passover, and then celebrate a holy day called Shavuot. It was Israel's summer Feast of Harvest. The Greek-speaking Jews had to come up with a Greek name for the holiday. Seven weeks plus one equals 50 days. They called it, pente, or fifty and costes, or days, thus Pentecost. So Pentecost is the ancient Hebrew holy day, Shavuot. When you celebrate Pentecost you're actually celebrating the harvest of Israel, Shavuot. So, the Spirit of God came on the Jewish Feast of Harvest. What does it reveal? If you're filled with the Spirit, you're going to go into the harvest field and spread the Gospel. It also reveals that the coming of the Spirit is linked to Israel. So, if you're filled with the Spirit, you love Israel and pray for her redemption. So it's not only Jewish to believe in Jesus, it's also Jewish to be filled with the Spirit. In fact, Moses was the first Pentecostal! rn
