The children of Israel were called to stand for God, but they were also called to stand against the gods. Against the gods of the nations which surrounded them: Baal, Marduk, Zeus, Ashtoreth. The first believers in the New Testament were born again into a world of gods and mystery religions, Jupiter, Dionysus, Mithra and even Caesar. They too, were called to stand for God and against the gods of the world. If you're born again, you're called to take your stand against the gods of this world, the gods of money, the gods of lust, the gods of selfishness, greed, status, pleasure, money, alcohol, drugs, pornography, abortion, and many others. And you need to be strong about it. As with Moses and the gods of Egypt, Elijah and the prophets of Baal, and Daniel in the courts of Babylon, have nothing to do with these gods, but take up your stand against them. rn
