It Actually Says They Pierced Him

Sunday, April 25, 2021

When Messiah said, Eli, Eli, lama sabachtani on the cross, He was quoting Psalm 22. This Psalm was written centuries before the crucifixion. There is a controversy over the line that reads, they have pierced My hands and feet. The rabbinical translation, based on the Masoretic Text from 800 to 1,000 A.D. renders it, like a lion there at my hands or feet. But the far more ancient Targums from the first century say nothing of a lion, but translate it as they have pierced My hands and My feet. And the even more ancient Septuagint renders it the same way. The fact that there's so much controversy around Messiah's death tells us it must be something very important, and it is. The fact that Messiah died for you is the most important of facts. He gave everything for you. So live your life in a way worthy of that sacrifice, that price and that love. Controversy or not, the fact remains that He's the one of whom it was prophesied, they have pierced My hands and My feet. rn
