Palm Sunday Is A Jewish Holiday!

Wednesday, April 14, 2021

Palm Sunday doesn't seem like a Jewish holiday. For one thing, it's celebrated on a Sunday. For Jewish people, Sunday's not a very Jewish day. People cried out, Hosanna! This sounds more like a Spanish word than Hebrew. Waving palms is not exactly something most Jewish people do, but the truth is Palm Sunday is a totally Jewish holiday. Waving branches and crying out, "Hosanna" is a Jewish tradition practiced by the orthodox to this day. Hosanna or Hoshiana in Hebrew means save us. Palm Sunday is a day commemorating the way Jewish people welcomed the Messiah into Jerusalem. It's a celebration of the fulfillment of the prophecy of Zechariah from the Hebrew Scriptures. Celebrate Palm Sunday by praying for the salvation of the Jewish people, for the day they will say, Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. For when the Jewish people truly welcome Him in, one more time, then the kingdom has come. rn
