It's popular today to disparage the family of the past, the marriage of the past, and the parents of the past. We think we're wiser today and that we do a better job. But the facts are very different. The time that parents spend with their children in America since 1960 has decreased by 40%. From about 30 hours per week in the mid-60's it decreased to about 17 hours in the mid - 80's. Since then, it's estimated that the internet has decreased family communications by an additional 30%. Parenthood is not just a role. It's a ministry. Godly parenthood is a choice. It's holy. It's more important than any corporate career. In an end-time culture that puts self and gain ahead of family, we have to consciously choose to put family above self and gain. Treasure your family and loved ones. Invest your time in the people in your life because God is your father and He put you above everything else. He's the God of life and we are His children. Let's follow His example. rn
