If you watch a movie that is fun and happy, but in the end everyone gets killed, then it wasn't a happy movie. It doesn't matter if the first two or three hours were full of happiness. It's the end that determines the story. It is the same with sin. The beginning of sin has pleasure, but the end of sin is emptiness and misery, regret, shame, and bondage. Fishermen use bait. The bait is something that looks good to the prey but the end result is deadly. A fish sees a worm and thinks of pleasure. But behind that worm is a hook that produces pain and death. A smart fish learns to see through the bait to the pain and loss waiting at the end. The enemy uses temptation in the same way. He seeks to have you look at something that appears pleasurable, but the end result is pain and loss. So always look down the road, see where that sin is going to end up leaving you. Become at least as wise as a smart fish.rn

What has been a temptation for you? Practice seeing through it to the end, to the pain, to the destruction, to the regret. Plan on recalling that image every time you're tempted.rn
