My Baby Alligator

Many years ago, in summer camp, I saw a baby alligator. If I could just get this alligator, I wouldn't need anything else for the rest of my life. The guy told me it was $10. When I told my mother, she gave me $10 and a note. But when I gave the guy the note, he told me the alligator was gone. I think my mother's note must've said, 'You give my son that alligator and I'll kill you!" When you're little, you don't always know what's good for you. Even as adults, we often desire what is not good for us... that sin... that indulgence.. that relationship.. that little activity... that thing... It seems harmless like a toy, but you can't play around with it. You take it into your life. You feed it. Indulge it... And you'll end up with a full grown alligator, posing a threat to all you love. Don't play with that sin, don't indulge that habit, don't give room to that transgression. Get rid of it. It looks harmless now. But give it room in your life and you'll find it's as harmless as a full grown alligator.
