The Bacon Dichotomy

I grew up in a Jewish home. There is a strange inconsistency in a lot of Jewish homes. Most Jewish people don't eat pork. However, in many of these same Jewish homes they will often eat bacon. It's an unspoken paradox. The fact is, bacon is pork. It doesn't look like ham but it's the same thing. I'm not speaking here about being under the law, or really about bacon at all. The point is human nature tends to blur the lines. We mix up the holy with the unholy. We slack off on discerning what is spiritually kosher and what is spiritually unkosher. We let a little sin come in our life, a little spiritual pork. Compromise is complicated but victory is simple. A little compromise will rob your joy, your peace, and your strength. Get it out. Get that spiritual pork out of your life. Put it away. Call it what it is - unkosher. Put away that unclean thing and do God's Will. Repent and you will be 100% certified kosher in the Spirit. rn
