In Isaiah 9:6, Messiah is called Wonderful. The Hebrew for wonderful is peleh. Peleh means something so wonderful that you have to gaze at it. It matches our English word miracle, which comes from the word mir. Mir speaks of something you gaze at, like a mirror or mirage. But there's another important word etymologically linked to miracle. It's the word smile. For miracles are meant to cause His people to smile. Messiah is God's Peleh, God's miracle that causes us to wonder and marvel, but also that which puts a smile on our faces. If you know Messiah, then a great miracle has happened in your life. The evidence of that miracle is a heart filled with wonder, and the evidence of the wonder is a smile on our faces. So smile! For your name is written in the Book of Life! Smile! Because God really does love you! Smile! You're going to heaven! And smile! Because the Peleh has come into your life! He's wonderful, and something to smile about!
