The Father Who Never Existed

What memorable father in the Bible has no past, no future, no birth, no death, and no reality? The answer: The father of the prodigal son. He never existed and yet we learn more about God's love and mercy from him than through almost anyone else - a man who never was. rnA flesh and blood father, even if similar to the father in the parable, would have parts of his life that were inconsistent, imperfect, and lacking. His love would be stronger one day, weaker the next, conditional and complicated. But the father in the parable has no such contradictions because he only exists in the parable - and for that time, he loves purely, and with all his heart. Only one father is like that - your Heavenly Father. He loves you with all His heart and all His existence without any lack, change, or condition. So rejoice in God's love, and like the prodigal son, let it change you - because you could only get such a love from a man who doesn't exist or from a God who does.
