The Comfort Of The Rod

The Bible says, Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me. A shepherd uses a rod and staff for striking, correcting and pulling back. The Lord is our Shepherd. His rod and staff are not only for the wolves, but also for the sheep. Sheep need to be corrected and pulled out of danger. We need the Lord to protect us not only from the evil outside of us, but also the evil within us. We don't just need His staff, but His rod, not just His gentleness, but also His correction. A child who does not have someone to correct him or her is an orphan. So don't be discouraged when you are corrected. It means you're blessed. Rejoice in the Lord's corrections. Be encouraged because it's a sign of love. It means you're a child of a loving Father and a living Shepherd. God's love will protect you from the enemy and from your own sins and mistakes. Thank the Lord that He is your Shepherd who cares for you just as He cared for David. For both His rod as well as His staff will comfort you. rn
