Lesson from the Carnival Bear

When I was growing up, the carnival came to my town every year. There were many games and prizes; all of them were rigged to make it nearly impossible to win. In one game, if you could get the basketball in the hoop, you'd win a large stuffed animal. I wanted to win a stuffed bear for my mother. I tried over and over again, but the hoops were rigged. People were trying to stop me, but I wouldn't stop. Finally, I got a ball in the hoop. I won the stuffed bear. It cost me around $35. The same is true in our lives. There are a lot of victories not worth winning - and a lot of struggles not worth bearing. You may be winning the argument, but losing the war. Stop striving to win a victory that will end up making you a loser. Give up the losing battle and find your peace with God, or you'll end up paying $35 for something worth 50 cents.rn
