Your Blood-Soaked Bible

Sunday, May 16, 2021

William Tyndale lived in England in the 16th Century when very few of the clergy knew the Bible. Tyndale asked the Bishop of London for permission to translate the Bible into English. He was refused. So he fled to Germany and began his translation. In 1525, he published the New Testament. The church authorities sought to destroy him and his books. Finally, he was caught, brought to England, and burned at the stake. As he died, his last words were, Lord open the eyes of the King of England. It was prophetic. Years later, the King of England, King James, would be responsible for producing the King James Bible. So, the Bible comes to you by the blood of those who gave their lives. When it stays on your shelf unread, remember those that gave up their lives so you could have a Bible. Shouldn't you treasure it the same way they did? Don't go a day without reading it, receiving from it, and living it. Pick up your Bible today and partake of its treasures - treasures so great, men gave up their lives for you to have it. rn

Today's Mission

Take the Bible, give thanks to God for it. Treasure the treasure it is - and open it up as if you were opening up a treasure chest to receive a jewel from God.rn
