Some people come to the Lord thinking of the Bible as any other book to read through from cover to cover. So they start in Genesis and expect to get all the way to Revelation in no time. If you ask a new believer how he's doing he says, "Great, I'm in Genesis." The next week he says, "It couldn't be better. I'm in Exodus with Moses." Then something happens. A week later, he's in Leviticus, reading about entrails, kidneys and fat. He's defeated, he needs counseling. His reading project comes to an end. It isn't wrong to read the Bible from cover to cover. But the Bible isn't just a book. It's the Word of God. One single verse can change your life if you truly take it to heart.
