There are stories throughout history of great military campaigns describing the taking of a city. The Greeks took Troy by using the Trojan horse. Alexander the Great conquered the walled cities of the ancient world. William Sherman took Atlanta and turned the course of the Civil War. David's strategy for taking Jerusalem was brilliant. The taking of such cities requires ingenuity, courage, zeal, and often brilliance. The Word of God says, Better is the one who rules his own spirit than the one who takes a city. Look at all the obstacles the generals of history faced. But that's nothing in comparison to ruling your spirit. A lot of the great generals in history could not even control their own lust and it destroyed them. You don't have to be a general. But set your heart and your goal in ruling your own spirit. Conquer that stronghold, win that victory, then your life will be stronger than all the generals of history. For greater is the one who rules his or her spirit than the one who takes a city.rn
