The Manger And The Inn

It's 2000 years ago in Bethlehem. The inn is filled with people, and probably noise, maybe even some celebrations. It would seem the center of activity, the place to be, where the action was, the focal point. Outside, away from the inn, was a poor Jewish couple, homeless, living in an animal feeding station. Nobody noticed them, nobody cared. They couldn't have seemed less important. And yet, two thousand years later, no one puts up scenes of the inn on their lawn, no one cares about it, but lawns and displays and greeting cards and much more are filled with depictions of that poor Jewish couple and their baby in the feeding station. You see, the world, the media, the culture focuses on things which look important, and focuses away from the things and people of God, which seem obscure and unimportant. But in the end, all the world focuses on will be forgotten. So spend your life, not in the inn of this world, but in the manger of His presence. For that which is born in the quiet obscurity of His presence, will be celebrated forever.
