The Bethlehem Secret Of The Rabbis

In the ancient Jewish Rabbinical writings of the Mishnah, it's recorded that in the time of the second temple, the only place where one was allowed to keep flocks in the land of Israel was in the wilderness - with one exception. There was one kind of lamb that could be born in the land of Israel and not in the wilderness: the lambs that were destined for the Temple sacrifices. Bethlehem was in Israel but not in the wilderness. Why was Messiah born in Bethlehem? Messiah was born as the Lamb of God, the Sacrificial Lamb, the Passover Lamb, the Lamb that would die to redeem our lives on the altar of God. So what more perfect town for the Lamb of God to be born, in the same town where the sacrificial lambs of God were being raised? So give thanks for Bethlehem, the birthplace of the Temple Lambs, and of the Lamb of God, who came into this world to die for you, to wash you, to forgive you, to heal you, to redeem you, and to give you eternal life, on the altar of God. rn
