The enemy, the Devil, has several names. One of them is Belial, which appears in the Hebrew Scriptures. It literally means worthless. Why? Because he's good for nothing, has no value and there's nothing there. This reveals that the nature of evil is worthlessness, and the nature of the enemy is not only worthless, but that which tries to make you become worthless. Sin not only causes you to do what is bad, but actually takes you away from worth. When you partake in sin: in lust, bitterness, gossip, jealousy, and addictions, it takes away your worth and makes your walk less valuable, your witness less precious, and your life worth something less. In contrast, when you turn away from sin, refuse that indulgence, resist that temptation, and turn away from the habit, you're adding worth to your walk, to your witness, your character, marriage and life. So put away that sin and turn down that temptation - have nothing to do with it. Because not only is sin not good, it's also good for nothing. rn
