The Perverse Balances

Proverbs 16 says, Just balances and scales belong to the Lord and the weights of the bag are His concern. The Lord hates false balances, or two sets of weights. In Biblical times, when a seller wanted to rip off customers, he would use lighter weights that gave a lesser amount. If a buyer wanted to rip off the seller, he would use heavier weights to get more for less money. Two sets of standards, or false weights. In the same way, one sign that a civilization is corrupted and in moral decay is the sign of changed weights: altered standards and values. When standards are redefined, it's a sign of corruption. Fornication becomes living together. Perversity becomes alternate life styles. Morality becomes intolerance. An unborn baby becomes a fetus or a pregnancy to be terminated. Since we live in a day of changing weights and altered standards, it's all the more critical that we be all the more grounded in the eternal truth. We are responsible for keeping the weights sure and true. For you are the keeper of the weights and standards of heaven.rn
