The Feast of Sukkoth or Tabernacles was the last great feast of Israel during the sacred year. To celebrate it, you brought the fruit of your fields to Jerusalem to present to the Lord. The Lord specifically told the Israelites not to go up to Jerusalem empty-handed, but to go with fruit. God didn't want rotten left-over, spoiled, or diseased fruit. The Feast of Sukkoth is a picture of the Kingdom of God to come. It is telling us that it's not just that you're going to stand before God, but that you have to have something to give Him. You can't appear before Him empty-handed. You need to bless Him with fruit: the fruit of those who were saved through you, the fruit of good and pure works done for Him, the fruit of joy, love, blessing, in this life. The Israelites had to bring fruit to the Feast of Tabernacles. You have to do the same. So live in a way that on that day you will be filled with fruit to give. For the Lord desires fruit - the fruit you have borne in this life. rn
