In Colombia, there stands a church called the Church of the Penitents. It's also called the "church that sin built." It was built by people who carried bricks to the building for every sin they confessed. So they turned their sins into repentance. That strategy is not just for building churches; it's for our lives. God doesn't just deal with the old and throw it away - He redeems it and turns the bad into good. It's the strategy that Zacchaeus used to repay those he sinned against. It's the strategy that caused Paul to live a life of total devotion helping believers. It's the strategy that Messiah gave to the adulteress woman when he told her, "Go and sin no more." The greatest of saints are those who realized how great a sinner they used to be. The memory of sin is a great resource which, in God's grace, transforms into repentance. So take your bricks and start building His kingdom out of a life of true repentance and grace. For we are all building the church of the penitents. rn
