Very few people know that Abraham Lincoln's casket was moved seventeen times after his burial in 1865. Why? Mainly to hide it from being stolen and held for ransom. Who would do such a thing? In 1876, six men almost succeeded in stealing it until they were frightened away by the custodian of the site. For the next two years, the coffin was hidden under a pile of lumber in the cellar. Where is the casket now? Since 1901, Lincoln's casket has been locked in a steel cage and buried in solid cement ten feet below the floor of the mausoleum in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Lincoln was a great man, but Messiah is the greatest figure in human history. Yet, no one guards Messiah's body today because He's alive forevermore. And so the hope you have in your life, in Messiah, is something sure. The world cannot touch it. Thieves cannot steal it. He is not there. The tomb is empty. Your hope is well founded and the stone is rolled away. rn
