The Hebrew word for serpent is Nahash. When you say it, it sounds like a whisper. And that's what the word means, whisper. The hiss of a snake sounds like nahash, a whisper. The serpent represents the enemy of our souls. He's the Nahash, the whisperer. And that's what he does. He comes whispering temptation.Whispering discouragement. Whispering defeat. If you listen to that whisper, it becomes an action. An action becomes a lifestyle. A lifestyle becomes a habit, a sinful habit from Nahash, the enemy. How do you defeat the power of a whisper? By two things prescribed by God's Word. First, you resist it. Second, you drown it out with God's Word. Are you being tempted by the enemy's whisper? Do you hear the hiss of Nahash? By Messiah's grace, resist temptation and Nahash will flee from you. Then, like Messiah in the temptation, drown-out any whispering attempt of Nahash to return. Use Messiah's example. Use Messiah's power. Resist the whisper. Then drown it out and live in Victory. rn

Deal with the sin and temptation when it's just a whisper - at the beginning. Drown-out his hissing by the Word of God. rn
