Leaving Something To Be A True Disciple

Are you a disciple of the Lord? A disciple follows the Lord. You say you follow the Lord, so you are a follower. But to follow the Lord also means to not follow. You can't follow without not following. When Messiah called the disciples, He called them first to stop fishing before they could follow Him. Drop their nets. It wasn't just about nets; it was about an entire way of life that they were following. In other words, stop following the life of a worldly fisherman. Stop following the desire for money, the desire for comfort and more business. Messiah called Matthew, (Levi), to follow and he had to leave his tax station. It wasn't about the station but about Levi's entire way of life. He had to stop following his worldly way of life to follow Messiah's way of life. Messiah said, "If anyone would follow Me, let him deny himself." The first thing a new disciple must do is stop doing something; to not follow your own way of life is just as important as following Messiah's way of life for you.rn
