The Unsuccessful Suicide

Richard Wurmbrand was the leader of the underground church in Romania. He was arrested by the Communists. In prison, his captors tortured him attempting to get more information on other believers. Fearing that he would break under torture, he devised a plan - he would commit suicide. Each night he received a sleeping pill. But he didn't take it. He collected them in his pillowcase. Finally when he had enough to commit suicide, the guards came in and changed the sheets and the pillow case. He said, "Alright Lord, you're keeping me alive, and so you'll have to give me the strength to hold on." And he never broke under torture. So you too might wonder if you're strong enough in the Lord to hold up in temptation, hard times, and the days to come. But it's not about how strong you are - it's about the strength of the Lord. It says, "Be strong in the power of HIS might." It's about His faithfulness and His power to keep you. It's o.k. to be weak, if you bring your weakness to Him and trust in His strength.
