Matthew 7:10 poses a question about a father who gives his son a snake when the son asked for a fish? Of course not! But what if the son asks for a snake? Not likely. I had the opposite experience. I was eight years old and I went through a reptile phase. At first, I dabbled in it, then it got worse, advancing from frogs to Iguanas, salamanders, and finally, snakes. None of this went over well with my parents who bought me a fish to keep me off the harder stuff. It was like a methadone treatment for reptile addiction. You may be asking God for something that will bring you trouble in the end - something poisonous, harmful. Maybe you're asking for marriage but it would be the worst thing for you. If God says "No" it is as much a gift as a "Yes." Be blessed when God says "No." For what God has for you is a whole lot better than what you would have for yourself - as better as a fish is to a snake.

Today, give thanks for the 'No's' God has given you - that you might have His best. rn
