On Purim, when Haman's name is read, there are noisemakers, groggers, booing, hissing, and stamping of feet, all to drown out the name of Haman. There's something very biblical about this. Haman represents the principle of evil - Satan. How do you fight Satan? Not by dwelling on him, but by drowning him out. How do you fight sin, temptation, or gloom? Not by dwelling on them but by drowning them out by producing another sound - by doing something spiritual to overwhelm them. When you complain about a problem, you're actually turning up its volume - actually joining in its chorus - echoing its sound - rather than overcoming it. When you fear a problem or despair over it, you're echoing the sound you want to disappear. You don't solve the problem by dwelling on the problem. You solve the problem by lifting your eyes off of the problem and unto the Answer - and the answer is always God! So, stop listening to Haman and start drowning him out with the presence of the Lord. Make a joyful noise to the Lord and drown the devil out!rn

Whatever is not of God that you're dealing with, instead of dwelling on it - drown it out with presence of God. rn
