Lessons From The Philippian Jail

Prison is normally a dark and miserable place. But one night, in a particular prison, the prisoners heard other prisoners singing songs of praise. It was Paul and Silas. Though they were in prison in a dark and gloomy cell, they weren't dark and gloomy inside. They knew God was with them and they knew His presence brings joy. So, they were singing in prison in the middle of the night and the power of praise illuminated the darkness. And then a great earthquake struck the prison and the doors burst open. When the guard awoke, he feared that all the prisoners were gone. But Paul said, "We're all here." The guard then asked Paul, "What should I do to be saved?" Paul answered, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved." Out of the prison came freedom and salvation. So, no matter what situation you find yourself in, even in the darkest of circumstances, praise God. Start a disturbance of faith. Begin an uproar of righteousness and cause an explosion of light to enter in.
