In Matthew 9:9, the Lord said to Matthew the tax collector, "Follow me." That event would have been shocking to those who witnessed it because in those days, most rabbis would only speak to and choose disciples from those who had distinguished themselves in studying the Word. But not the rabbi, Jesus. He called fishermen and called someone who was totally despised and considered ungodly, the tax collector, Matthew. Matthew must have thought, "This is the one I saw perform miracles, the one whom people are following. He actually looked at me personally and said, 'Come.'" So, Messiah says to you, "Come." Don't dwell on who you are or how unworthy you feel. He chose you and that is enough. Do what Matthew did when Yeshua called him and rise. Forget the old you and follow Him in the newness of life. rn
