What Your Habits Really Are

The caterpillar is the wormlike creature that goes into a shell called the chrysalis. What actually happens is that its entire body becomes a shell, the chrysalis. So, the chrysalis assumes the shape of its old body. For it to become the new creature, the butterfly, it has to break out of the chrysalis - the shape of the old. You also have an old self and a new self. Those old habits that you struggle with you need to see in a new way. They're no longer you. They're part of the old self - the chrysalis. It's not you - it's only a shell. And the new you, the inner man, has to break out of the shell in order to be free. So, stop accepting those old things, old actions, old habits, old thoughts as being who you are. They are not you - only who you were. They are just an outer shell waiting for you to break out of. So don't be discouraged by those old things but break out of them - they are now only the shell of a heavenly creature in waiting.
