The Cosmic Circumcision

Sunday, January 3, 2021

When a Jewish boy is eight days old, there is a ceremony called the Bris or Brit - which means the covenant. He is ushered into the covenant that God made with Abraham, the covenant of promise, the covenant to bless all the peoples of the earth through Abraham's seed. It's called circumcision. Now eight days after Messiah was born in Bethlehem, He, as a Jewish male child, was circumcised. Count eight days past December 25 and what do you get? You get January 1 - New Year's Day. In fact, on the Gregorian Calendar, January 1, New Year's Day is a holy day - the celebration of Messiah's circumcision. Jesus/Yeshua is so awesome that even His circumcision is celebrated throughout the world. Even New Year's Day is Jewish, bearing witness that the promise made to Abraham that in His seed all nations would be blessed is fulfilled - and that the God of Israel is the God of all the earth. So when everyone shouts "Happy New Year!" you can rejoice in God's faithfulness and the blessings of salvation. And don't forget to wish your friends, "Happy Circumcision Day!" rn
