Sliding into Paganism

When people in the Lord say, "The Lord told me or the Lord spoke to me," the words do sound spiritual and it may be so, because God will speak in any way He can and we must be open to the Spirit's leading. However, when Christians are always saying, "The Lord says or God told me...," they risk sliding into paganism without even knowing it. In ancient paganism, it was common to see everything as god - the mountains, the trees, the rivers. This belief still exists today in religions of primitive tribes and in New Age teachings. It's very easy to attach God's name to every want and hope, but there's nothing spiritual about it. It's taking the name of the Lord in vain. God is real and His voice is like no other. We must revere it; deem it holy. We must be still and listen to it. We must also be grounded in the sure Word of God. For as it is written in Matthew 24:35, "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away." Believe it - His Word is Truth!
