On This Side of the Rainbow

One of the most famous images in American cinema is of a farm girl from Kansas singing, "Somewhere over the Rainbow." There's something about that scene from the Wizard of Oz that connects with being human. Most people go through life like Dorothy, yearning for something they don't have that will finally give them happiness and meaning. As believers, we long for Heaven. It's healthy and right. But we must keep in mind that the kingdom of Heaven is not only over there but right here, within us - on this side of the rainbow. For God has chosen this side of the rainbow to come down and live among us - so you can live a life of abundance and victory. In the end, it's not so much which side of the rainbow you're on, but Whom you're with - you're with God and God is with you. And so, now is the time of salvation and here is the place of victory. Stop dreaming of the other side of the rainbow and start having victory on this side. Abundant life can only be lived here and now... on your very own side of the rainbow.
