I went to a doctor a number of years ago for a wellness check-up. The doctor told me I should avoid foods that are high in fat, cholesterol, and triglycerides. In other words, anything that tastes, smells, or even looks good! So I did. I lost weight and felt better. When I went for my next medical test, my cholesterol levels had gone down by two-thirds. It's a good idea to avoid fat and cholesterol, but it's even more important to avoid spiritual cholesterol. In Proverbs 12:25, it's written, "Anxiety in the heart of a man weighs it down, but a good word makes it glad." When you partake of anxiety, or dwell on conflict, worry, fear, and anger, it weighs down your heart. So take some medical advice concerning your spiritual health. Guard your heart and mind against thoughts of anxiety. Don't let your heart dwell on what is negative. Keep your heart far away from the things which make you anxious. Keep it close to the heart of God. You'll become spiritually healthier. For dwelling on the Lord is not only good - it's good for you.
