A Wild Life Reserve in Africa started finding a multitude of dead animals. They discovered that the elephants in the reserve were killing off other animals. They discovered the reason - an absence of older male elephants as role models. The younger males didn't know the proper way of behaving and got involved in juvenile elephant delinquency. The staff came up with a brilliant idea. They began importing older elephant father models. The younger elephants began following the older ones and began to behave appropriately. Our culture seeks to downplay the role of fathers. More children are being raised without fathers than ever before and the lack of fathers has been found to be directly linked to delinquency, crime, drug abuse, and other societal problems. A society that abandons fatherhood will reap the repercussions. And we, as God's people must be models of beloved children. Maybe you didn't have a great model but now you have a heavenly Father. Having a father makes all the difference. If you don't take it from the Word of God, take it from the elephants.
