The Shofar People

In the Hebrew Scriptures, God commanded His people to sound the shofar. They were to sound it on new moons, festival days, and for mobilizing the people for war. He told the prophets, "Lift up your voice like a shofar." It's also prophesied that in the last days, the shofar or trumpet will be sounded. The Lord's people used many instruments in worship. However, the only one that was commanded to be used on holy days was the shofar. Why the shofar and not the flute, violin, or piccolo? The shofar doesn't make a nice sound - it makes a bold, piercing, and powerful sound. It's the sound of a bold people who are not intimidated. We are God's people and we live in an anti-God culture. We must be people of the shofar. God wants you to be bold about the Gospel, about the truth, and about salvation. Don't be reserved when it comes to the Lord. Lift up your voice like a shofar and proclaim the Gospel. Talk bold, stand bold, walk bold, because God has called you to be like a shofar... and not like a piccolo.
