Running With The Cloud

Hebrews 12 says, "Therefore since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us run the race..." What exactly is this great cloud of witnesses? They are the saints, the people of Hebrews 11- Abraham, Moses, and Gideon, the prophets, forefathers, the kings, and great heroes of the faith. But the saints of the Bible are no longer in the race. Their time to have run on earth is over. So, now it's up to you. You're part of this awesome relay race. Those who went before, the saints of old, have now passed the baton to you. It means you need to run as they did, start living as they lived. Look at the people of Hebrews 11, and do likewise. Leave the old behind. Shut the mouths of lions, work miracles, and overcome the world. We read the Bible as if they are the runners, and we're the ones watching - but it's the opposite. Now it's your time to be in the race. The saints aren't only cheering you on. They're shouting out from the benches saying, "It's your time now - run the race!"
