One time, I needed a new refrigerator because my old one broke down. So I went out and got a new one. That whole week, I kept thinking about the buttons and the features of that new refrigerator. But after a while the thrill of it was gone. The thermostat control just didn't do it for me anymore. There was a chill in the relationship and the love for the refrigerator grew cold. That's the way life is. Every possession you have is going to grow old and fade away. But there's one thing that never passes - the joy of the Lord. Do you want true joy? Then get your heart off of things. Get weaned from the things of this world and get on to the things of the Spirit that never pass away. Always rejoice in the Lord - His joy will never fade, but will go on and on. So get into the joy of the life of the Spirit and rejoice in the Lord always, because unlike a refrigerator, this is the one love, the one joy that will never grow cold. rn
