Vampires, The Sunrise, And Your Life

When I was a boy, I used to watch a lot of monster and vampire movies. There was a scene in which the protagonists were about to drive the stake through the vampire's heart and everyone said "Hurry, hurry, the sun is setting." For when the sun sets, the vampires awake, and everyone's in trouble. It was nerve-racking - and it made no sense. Why would they wait until the last minute when they had the whole day to find the vampire? But in the same way, the sun is setting on your life. You have a limited amount of time to do what God has called you to do. Don't put it off. Don't procrastinate. Don't keep putting off for tomorrow doing God's will, sharing the Gospel with that unsaved person, fulfilling your calling, or loving your loved ones. The sun is setting on this life and this life only comes once. Don't be like those foolish vampire hunters. Get an early start. Begin today. Do what you need to do and you won't be caught panicking when the sun goes down.
