Fighting From The High Ground

The most critical battle in the Civil War was Gettysburg. It was considered the critical juncture of the conflict, when the Union began to turn the tide toward victory. Crucial to that critical battle and victory was the high ground. Before the battle event started, Union soldiers raced to secure the mountain ridge which constituted Gettysburg's high ground. Because of this, they held the advantage and ultimately won the battle. The same secret applies in spiritual warfare. If you want to win against the enemy, you have to take the high ground. You can't win fighting from the low ground. You can't have victory from a place of pride, bitterness, carelessness, prayerlessness, faithlessness, the flesh, or even from your own strength. If you want to win, you have to dwell on the high ground even before the battle breaks out. That means establishing a strong life of prayer, devotion, and time in His word. It means living on the offensive, growing and advancing in the Spirit. Keep yourself on the high ground and you'll keep the enemy far below and you'll win the battle and the war.
