The Jewish Christian Pentecost

Most Christians don't realize that observant Jews, such as the Orthodox, actually celebrate Pentecost. They call it Shavuot. And in the synagogues on Shavuot or Pentecost, they read a special section of scripture called Parasha Bamidbar. It speaks of God sending forth the camp of Israel to move forward in the wilderness. So it was on Pentecost that God sent forth His people, the Church to go forth into the world. You see, the church and Israel are bound together in a mystic union. As the Jewish people went forth from the land of Israel to wander the earth, so the Church went forth from the land of Israel to spread the Gospel. And now the Jewish people are returning to their homeland. So, too, the Church must return to her roots and her inheritance. The fullness of the Gentiles will bring the fullness of the Jewish people and the redemption of the Jewish people will bring blessings to the world. So, pray for the peace of Jerusalem, the redemption of Israel, and go out and spread the Gospel, because your redemption draws near.
