What does the word Christian mean? Does it mean someone who goes to church or someone who isn't Jewish or Muslim? No. For starters, the first Christians were Jews. Second, Messiah Himself said many would come in His Name but not be of Him. Third, a Christian makes churches - churches don't make Christians. The word Christian comes from the Greek word Christianos. It means little Christ. The word Christ comes from the Hebrew Mashiach or Messiah. This means that just as He is the Messiah for Israel and the world, you have to be a 'little messiah' for those in your world. You're to be a little messiah for your family, for your husband or wife, your friends, and for those around you. You're to be what He is, but in a 'little' way. You're to be the little messiah of the little world around you. This is the mystery of being a Christian - discovering what it means to be a little messiah.
