The Love For A Baby

One of the most basic words in Hebrew or any other language is Ema. It means mother. Babies, by nature, tend to be cute. But not all babies are naturally cute. Some babies have faces only a mother could love. It doesn't matter how uncute or unlovely the baby is, to a mother, her baby is beautiful. Beyond that, the baby can grow up to be a criminal, commit a heinous crime, and be convicted - but to his mother, he's innocent. He's her baby. Mothers often overlook the bad. Isaiah 49:15 says, "Can a mother forget her nursing child...even these may forget. But I will not forget you." God's love is like that of a mother's love for her child - and yet even more so, stronger, deeper and more unconditional. That's how God loves you. So how are you to love others? You're to love them as a mother loves her child - only more so, a love that looks beyond fault, sin, blame, and blemish - a love that loves despite all things - a love that's unconditional, always faithful, gentle, persevering, enduring, merciful, and forgiving. That's how God loves you. You're His baby. Go and do likewise.
