Becoming Romeo

There was a pastor who was very frustrated because he didn't feel he was effectively communicating God's Word and love to his congregation. Then he heard about a famous stage actor, known for deeply moving and inspiring his audiences, and arranged to meet him. He asked the actor, "What's your secret?" The actor replied, "When I perform in Romeo and Juliet, I become Romeo. I feel and love with the passions of his heart. I weep with his sorrow. I long for Juliet with his longings. That's why my audience is in tears. Your problem is that you only talk about Jesus. You must become a "little Jesus" to them. You must feel the passion of His heart, love with His love, and weep with His sorrow. When you do, they'll receive God's love." If you want people to receive Jesus, don't just tell them about Him, but be a little Jesus/Messiah to them. Love them with that same love, see them with His eyes, and feel for them with His heart. Then what Messiah said will be so, "He who receives you, receives Me."
